Yesterday in the blog class I'm teaching one of the participants, Meg Montford mentioned a great way to find content for your blog, ezine, and even your website, as well as an important way to stay informed about your niche and other subjects that interest you.... Google Alerts.
From the Google Alert website:
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.
Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:
- monitoring a developing news story
- keeping current on a competitor or industry
- getting the latest on a celebrity or event
- keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
I'm glad Meg mentioned this because I've been using this system for nearly a year to track various subjects and find excellent articles, press releases and web sites nearly everyday with info I need and can use. I get about 6 alerts everyday on subjects ranging from blogs, to internet technology and companies whose stock I'm following. Thanks for the tip, Meg!
