There's a blog post from copywriting expert Henry Gold about poor Internet marketing, Why Marketers Are Broke. It's spurred a flurry of comments from people who are fed up with being hyped to death.
Some of the stories are worth reading just so you'll know what not to do with email marketing. It's about time people start getting wise to some of the bad marketers out there.
What are they complaining about? It seems that many marketers abuse their lists, and use emails to promote poor quality informational products. They over-hype them, over-promise and under-deliver.
The answer: be generous, create relationships instead of sales, give away valuable information that your readers can use, over-deliver, and be sincere.
