A phenomenon I've been watching for awhile is the ascendancy of MySpace as a marketing platform vs. a place for kids and musicians to hang out. In particular, I'm seeing more and more authors successfully using MySpace to build a platform for their books. Some examples are The Crafty Chica, Karen Quinn author of "Wife in the Fast Lane", and Eli Davidson. I advise you to check out their profiles to see how their building communities and encouraging sales of their books. Even our mentor, Tom Antion, as finally set up a MySpace profile!
