Are you forgetful? Jott your notes.

Have you ever been in the grocery store or stuck in traffic or on the treadmill and you get a brilliant idea for a blog post or an article or a new product?  It happens to me frequently (not that my ideas are brilliant, but they do come at odd times). What do you do if you're not at your computer or don't have a piece of paper and pen? Me? I forget the great idea by the time I get back to my computer.

The last couple of weeks a reminder service called Jott has been brought to my attention.  I heard about it awhile ago, then a client who is a productivity consultant wrote about Jott and then someone mentioned it on a teleclass this week. So I finally checked it out.

Jott is a free reminder service. You create a free account and then you connect your account with your cell phone. There are a couple of simple steps you go through to confirm your phone number.

Then, when you call  the toll-free number (this is for U.S. and Canada only right now), you leave a message with your brilliant idea and it's immediately transcribed and sent to you via email.

Has Google Indexed Your Site?

I received an interesting question yesterday:

I have a client that uses TypePad for her blog. I would like to know why Google has not picked up her blog yet. Any suggestions? I have set up Google alerts using her keywords and her postings don’t show. I have also registered her blog with Google. I would appreciate you assistance.

Let me say this right up front...I'm not a Google expert by any stretch of the imagination so I was a little taken aback by this question.

My first thought was "how the heck would I know why Google hasn't indexed the blog?" But that wouldn't be a very polite response. Here's how I responded instead:

Branding and Blogging at the Social Media Telesummit

I just completed the Branding and Blogging session at the Social Media Telesummit. Whew! There's always so much to cover and so little time. Unfortunately, Patsi put her back out and couldn't join me so I had to go it alone.  I do want to thank Leesa Barnes for her exceptional organization, good humor and expertise in putting the telesummit together. There are 6 more days of programs you shouldn't miss, plus access to the audio, handouts and special deals from previous sessions.

I got off the phone from the session and noticed a post on Problogger about 4 Social Media Marketing Tips for Bloggers. Darren Rowse has posted a video about how to use social media to market online.  Well, it's all about having a consistent brand in the social media space and the best ways to participate vs. sell on these sites.  Since it's right in alignment with the presentation I just gave, I figure I should share the video!

Videos Can Help You Grow Your List

Social Media Telesummit - Feb 20-29, 2008

In the fashion world, black is a classic color that works with everything.

Styles may change, designers come and go, but black is the template.

So, when a new color hits the scene, the fashion world says that that color is the "new black."

Well, in social media, video is the new black. Everywhere you turn, business leaders are using video to connect with prospects and customers.

If you want to learn how to use video to fill your database with quality leads, the Social Media Telesummit will teach you how.

One more session has been added due to demand. Travis Greenlee, founder of the Virtual Practice Builder, will teach you step by step how to use videos for maximum profits. His session is on Wednesday February 20th @ 8pm EST.

Grab your seat.

In addition to Travis, here's a sample of what you'll learn at the Social Media Telesummit:
