The title of this post may sound dumb, or obvious, but it's surprising how many professionals don't understand that in order to be visible online, you have to, well, be visible. What are you doing to create online visibility?
Here's the minimum:
Publish a blog in your field of expertise. This is not negotiable. A blog is your foundation and can quickly help you establish a presence online while building your credibility and visibility.
Set up a profile on Facebook. Find groups you can participate in. Learn how to effectively and efficiently build your visibility on Facebook.
Get on Twitter now. Twitter is a microblogging platform. It's an ideal way to create new relationships and build a following of people who are interested in the value you offer. You don't need to spend hours everyday in order to visible. Check in a couple times a day, post useful links, respond to interesting conversations, retweet other people's links.
Once you start building a community of followers, then host teleseminars, interview thought leaders in your field, write reports to give away and build your list. Eventually you're going to attract your ideal clients because they will have seen you in action, and want more intimacy...meaning they'll want more of what you offer as a solution to their problems.
None of this is difficult and much of this can be automated or strategically implemented. Take the time to learn a few best practices and you'll reap the rewards.
Want to know more? We have a few more spots open in our Massive Visibility Mentor program.
At the very least, follow me on Twitter. I guarantee you'll learn a lot by following and modeling what I and others do.

You are so right, this should be obvious, but it isn't. I like how you say that having a blog is non-negotiable. I also believe that having your own product to sell is a must, yet many people do not understand this concept either.

Creating products can be intimidating for many people. The first place to start is with the blog. Then after publishing content for a few months, often a pattern will emerge and then it's possible to create an ebook, teleseminar or other info product by repurposing blog posts.
