Are you using Twitter as a social communication tool for your business? (Are you following me on Twitter?)
If you have a business and you're using Twitter to connect with prospects, clients, colleagues, vendors (if you're not, you should be!), then take a look at your profile page. What does it say about you?
Have you customized your page so it reflects your brand? Does your picture reflect who you are as a professional? Does your bio tell your followers what you do and who you serve? Do you have a link to your blog or website?
If you need to upgrade your profile, click on Settings and take care of that now. If you don't have a photo of yourself, definitely upload one immediately. Twitter is a social network and having a picture is important. Some people use their logo or book cover, but I don't recommend that. People connect with people, not logos.
To take your Twitter profile page to the next level, consider getting a custom background designed. I just learned about Twitterimage.com They design backgrounds for twitter profiles.
For a limited time (don't know when this offer goes away), they are giving free designs if you have over 2000 followers. But even if you don't, they offer an outrageously good deal: $100 for a custom design and right now they're offering a 25% discount so it's only $75.
This is an ideal and very inexpensive way to extend your brand and image. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't take advantage of this offer. I submitted my order and let you know when it's online.

People put a whole lot of effort into making sure their blog sells them to the max in terms of design and presentation. Twitter profiles shouldn't be any different. Personally, I find profiles that are customized far more engaging. I have just started desiging twitter backgrounds.
