It's been on my list for some time to write about how to share photos via Twitter. It's yet another way to build visibility and creates another way for people to relate and connect to you. And, when you share photos from events and conferences, you are reinforcing your credibility by association.
Mari Smith does this brilliantly. Everywhere she goes she makes sure to get photos with the presenters, organizers, her clients, and other influencers who are in attendance. Then she posts these photos on twitter, Facebook, flickr, her blog and anywhere else people will see them. As an observer, I see her connected to the movers and shakers not only in online marketing but in the media, etc. and know that she's got powerful connections and those associations give her more credibility. And that credibility gives her more opportunities and the cycle continues. You can do this too.
First, you need to take a lot of pictures and videos.
I use my phone most of the time because I can immediately send the photos to a variety of sites and they'll be posted and pushed out to my twitter and Facebook accounts. I'm not going to address video now because I want to show you a couple of sites that help you push your photos out to larger audiences.
For the longest time, Twitpic has been the site of choice for posting pictures to twitter. You can either upload your pictures directly on the site or send them via email or your mobile phone. I also send photos to my Posterous account and have that account set up to then post on twitter and facebook. This is pretty efficient for getting maximum exposure for your images on three sites with one upload.
Today, via Mari Smith (@MariSmith on twitter) I learned about a new twitter/photo site that looks great...Tweetphoto. This site is going to give Twitpic a run for it's money.
Plus you can easily see what your twitter followers and Facebook friends are posting, favorite their photos and comment. It seems to be easier to create community and share images on tweetPhoto. It's also simple to tag your photos and the site will automatically geo-tag (find the location) of your image.
NOTE: Tagging your images is IMPORTANT! This helps people find you with organic search results and matches your images to other important key words that you use in your tags.
There are many more sites and applications that help you share photos on twitter. For a great list, here's a post on the Top 7 Photo Sharing Tools for Twitter.
The key is to find a tool you like, that's easy to you and that you WILL USE and start taking pictures so you can build more visibility for you and your business.
