Protect your online identity and reputation by locking in your preferred username on as many social networking sites as possible. Visit Usernamecheck.com to check if your preferred username is available, then set up accounts where you don't yet have visibility. Many thanks to my colleague Rachna Jain who alerted me to this tactic. Watch the video to learn the second reason why doing this is important!

Wow...now that is helpful! Thanks.

Excellent tip, Denise. Super video explanation too.
I also appreciated the tip Dr. Rachna Jain shared during your recent Future of Social Media webinar. And that is to go to http://www.zoominfo.com/ to claim your profile before someone hijacks it. I'm glad I did because there were many with similar names to mine, but not associated with me nor my biz. It's scary to think what might happen to our personal brands as social media sites continue to proliferate.
Thanks for the reminder to do the usernamecheck.com update as well. This is just one of the reasons I follow you: you're always up-to-date with information business owners need to know.
Thank you!

Thanks, Denise and Debra for the tips. If you have a common name like I do, it pays to develop a profile that helps you stand out and actually represents ME, and not the thousand other women with my name.
I had heard of ZoomInfo before and hadn't a clue what it was. Next I'm on to usernamecheck.com!
