Recently I interviewed my social media VA, Kathy Colaiacovo, about how to use a VA (virtual assistant) for social marketing tasks and what type of tasks are best outsourced. The private call was for students of my Online Visibility Secrets program.
After the call, Kathy offered to give away a copy of her ebook "Talking On Twitter." In order to choose a winner, I had students post their favorite tip for boosting online visibility on my Facebook wall (note: this is a great way to encourage engagement on your Facebook page and build your community!). Here are six tips that were submitted...
Debra Marrs #OVS My favorite tactic for boosting my online visibility is cross populating between Twitter and Facebook with a mix of tweets and posts that do 3 things: 1. engage ppl in a fun personal way by asking questions and commenting on their priorities, 2. share general information I think they'd find useful, 3. offer ideas and suggestions based on my services as the solution to their biggest concerns (promotion tactics). I've grown a very loyal tribe who see me as their go-to-gal for their Write Life.Nanette Saylor #OVS My fave tactic for boosting my online visibility is strategic blog participation. Twitter generates the most direct click thrus on links, etc., but by selecting like-minded bloggers and themes to communicate with I am growing my community of truly engaged listeners/readers. And as I clarify my biz offerings, these connections will become significant strategic alliances. The first time I did it, I got a personal phone call from the well known personality/author ( I almost dropped the phone!), inviting me to participate in her community in a significant way since she saw an immediate synergy in our messages AND a benefit to her readers. And I grew my list by 20% that month.
Vickie Kepley Biles Bowersox I don't yet have a favorite tactic for boosting my online visibility. I am really a newbee! I need lots of help and edcation. I guess I would have to say that my favorite tactic is taking your class and joining the conversation on your blog. So much to learn! #OVS
Joanne Estes My favorite tactic for boosting my online visibility has been to go on other blogger's sites and reading their posts and occasionally commenting. One of the results was that just recently my product was reviewed on one of the sites I commented on so I now have exposure with her group of readers #OVS
Lindsey Hardegree My favorite tactic for boosting online visibility is responding one-on-one to customers. When someone mentions they've visited our theatre, I ask them if they had a good time. If someone asks a question in a tweet, I find out the answer and get back to them. We have so many more interactions, and have seen people returning to the theatre because they feel appreciated. #OVS
Gaye Lindfors My favorite tactic for boosting my online visibility: creating a plan and then following through. I can read all the ebooks, blogs, and talk to the best of the best, but it all comes down to actually doing it. Just DO what the experts tell me to do. #OVS
I asked Kathy to choose the winner and she chose three...Lindsey Hardegree, Joanne Estes and Nanette Saylor.
If you'd like to continue the conversation and add your own online visibility tip, you can add a comment here or click on each person's name above to connect with them on Facebook. You'll notice that commenting on blogs was posted by two of the winners. Kathy told me the reason for her choices:
"...seeing as the ultimate goal is Online Visibility then I will pick the two people who mentioned blog commenting on other blogs - I started doing this 2 years ago and it works! I watched my name results go from 1,300 to near 30,000 - generally Kathy Colaiacovo online is me so It is a good measuring tool."
I'd love to hear your tips and connect with you here or on Facebook.

I am fairly new to the blogging community. I have noticed that when I make a post to my blog which is linked to facebook, I see more traffic. In addition, I have links on my blog tied to an affiliate program with Vitabase vitamins. I would like to turn this traffic into sales. I am trying to learn as I go. Any suggestions?

These are all good ways to promote the online visibility of one's business. I am particularly enjoying participating in blogs and forums. I love the interaction and it makes me learn more about my customers' needs which in turn makes me think of ways to improve my services. I am thankful for the invention of social platforms such as Twitter and FaceBook, they make this task pretty easy. I also keep a blog.

It can be very trial and error as to finding what increases the visibility of your site. Often with the help of a web design agency and dgital marketing company this can be solved easily.

Another way to increase online visibility is with a retargeting campaign. For years the focus has been on getting people to come to your site. (Naturally, this essential.) But what if you start getting the traffic you seek, but the conversions just aren’t quite there? Retargeting displays ads on future sites to try to entice recent visitors to come back to your site. It can be very effective.

Unlike the physical world, where it might take you years to get noticed, everything on the Internet is fast-tracked. It has never been this easy and you can build your online presence in a flash. These are all amazing tips that will definitely work in to your advantage when it comes to visibility. I am highly appreciative of the creation of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter as they will significantly boost your visibility.
