You really can't be doing business online these days and not be aware of Facebook.
With over 500,000,000 users, more than half of whom are active every day, it's a safe bet to assume your ideal client is hanging out on Facebook for a few hours a week.
To keep you up to speed, here are a couple of articles, a webinar and a book that will help you stay on top of the speedy evolution of Facebook and how you can leverage this heavy-weight social networking site for your business:
7 Facebook Marketing Tips From World’s Top Pros
10 Top Facebook Pages and Why They’re Successful
9 Companies Doing Facebook Right and What You Need to Know (FREE LIVE WEBINAR on 9/7), with Mari Smith and Michael Stelzner
Facebook Marketing: An Hour a Day
by Mari Smith and Chris Treadaway
One word of caution. While you cannot afford to ignore Facebook, don't put all your eggs in the Facebook basket. At the end of the day, you do not have any control or ownership of Facebook and you want to make sure you have your own online real estate on the web (a blog!) where you encourage your Facebook friends and fans to learn more about you and your business and get deeper content from you.
[Join me on my Facebook page. I post links that don't make it on this blog to articles about blogging, social marketing and boosting online visibility, among other things.

Very helpful blog posts and great book recommendation. I have a Kindle now, so will have this "on the shelf" this afternoon. Of course, Mari Smith is the person for Facebook. I have heard it said that "Next to he that says it, is he that quotes him" (Of course, that was said before women became independent) Thanks for sending this info Denise.

Thank you, your articles are very insightful on how businesses use social media. We are all into marketing, and the big difference is how internet marketers uses facebook as opposed to how a traditional business uses facebook.
