Dr. Joe Capista: Blog Tour for What Can a Dentist Teach You About Business, Life and Success?

Capista_good We've been hearing for months about Dr. Joe Capista, a dentist from Philadelphia who is a client of our good friend Kathleen Gage. What we've been hearing is about his amazing success and about the book he's just published about how he built a multi-million dollar business: What Can a Dentist Teach You about Business, Life and Success? Discover Secrets to Achieving Total Success!

When Kathleen mentioned she was working with Dr. Capista on the promotion of his book and that they were having a blog tour to spread the word, well, we had to be involved. After all, we're huge proponents of blogs to marketing your business. Kathleen generously shared a copy of Dr. Capista's book and since my interest is in business and marketing, here's a brief review of how Dr. Capista addresses marketing in his book.  But first, watch this video book trailer...

7 Social Media Tools - Audio Replay

A couple of weeks ago Patsi and I joined Leesa Barnes for a discussion about social media tools. This was a preview call for the Social Media TeleSummit which begins on February 20. Leesa has given us permission to post the audio for your listening pleasure!

MP3 File

We discuss social networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook, as well as microblogging, blogging and podcasting of course, video sharing and social bookmarking. What was meant to be a 30 minute conversation turned into nearly an hour! Leesa just couldn't get us to shut up! The Blog Squad will be presenting on Blogging and Branding on February 21 at 1 p.m. ET.

I hope you'll check out the line of up speakers for the Social Media TeleSummit. It's an amazing group and this promises to be a first rate event. Personally, I'm looking forward to sessions by Paul Colligan, Krishna De, Penny Haynes, Sherman Hu, and Yaro Starak among others.

Red Hot Copywriting Templates at Red Hot Rates

Rhc_woobkweb We just got permission from Lorrie Morgan Ferrero to make available to readers  "Red Hot Copy to Woo Your Target Market" at a special discount rate! It's her award winning home study kit, with unbelievable templates and bonuses.

For info, visit CoachEzines.com. You won't believe the bonuses. Trust me - you can't access this stuff anywhere on the Web at this price. Not sure how long the offer will be good, so grab it now, so I don't have to tell "told you so!"

Copywriting Resources Recommended by Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero

I just finished editing the audio program from our Blogging and Beyond Mentor teleseminar with Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero and want to share a few links to resources she recommended:

For out of print marketing books, try http://www.twipress.com

For your swipe files, study these masters:
http://www.thegaryhalbertletter.com

http://www.john-carlton.com

Books to help you with headlines and powerful words:
Words That Sell
is a must-have reference. I also use Phrases That Sell a lot. We recommend these books to our clients all the time. They sit right next to my desk for easy reference when I'm writing.

Lorrie also mentioned John Caples' book Tested Advertising Methods. This book was also highly recommend to me by Ken McCarthy of The System fame. He said you should only get the 4th Edition. Apparently the most recent edition has been edited by a text book company and no longer has the best stuff in it. You'll probably have to do some detective work to find a 4th edition.

I went to bookfinder.com and did a search and found a copy on half.com for $9.95. Not all sellers list the edition number so be careful and make sure you're getting the 4th edition.

Call to Action: Recommended Reading

Yesterday, in our monthly Blogging and Beyond Mentor program teleseminar, we covered "Call to Action." We promised our Mentees a list of the books we read and refer to on a regular basis so I decided to share that list here with you as well.

Call to Action: Secret Formulas to Improve Online Results

Waiting for Your Cat to Bark?: Persuading Customers When They Ignore Marketing

Hot Button Marketing: Push the Emotional Buttons That Get People to Buy

The Elements of Persuasion: Use Storytelling to Pitch Better, Sell Faster & Win More Business

The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use News Releases, Blogs, Podcasting, Viral Marketing and Online Media to Reach Buyers Directly

Call to Action is about getting your readers and visitors to interact with you.

It's not necessarily about making a sale; it could be you want them to subscribe to your newsletter, download a free report, register for a teleclass, comment on your blog, give you feedback, and of course buy your products and services.

InstantTeleseminar.com Rocks!

Itlogo If you are currently hosting teleseminars or if you are thinking about getting started with it, I have a recommendation for you.

I have been using IntstantTeleseminar for the last couple of months and I wanted to wait to make any recommendation until after I had some experience with it. Now I have and I can honestly say, I love it.

In one system, for one monthly fee, InstantTeleseminar provides bridge lines, instant online webcasting, automatic call recording, mp3 file download, online interaction so listeners can ask questions before and during the event, and templates for your web pages.

I'm always looking for tools to make my business easier, even if it costs a bit of money. In the end, the investment can be worth all the time saved.

In the last two weeks, we have put the system to a true test, hosting two teleseminars with 350 and 400+ participants. The system worked like a charm.

You can see the service and what it does at InstantTeleseminar.com.
Plus you can get a 21-day trial for only $1. That's a great deal if you're ready to host a teleseminar.

Shopping Cart Debate

Practical Ecommerce has two articles in its current issue about online shopping carts: hosted vs. licensed.

The argument for a hosted ecommerce solution is presented by Michael Valient of 1ShoppingCart and the licensed solution is argued by Massimo Arrigoni of ProductCart.

If you're a regular reader of this blog, then you know that we are huge fans of 1ShoppingCart and have been using it in our own business for many years. In the interest of full disclosure we are also affiliates of KickStartCart, a private label version of 1ShoppingCart. This is the only solution we recommend for our clients who are primarily service professionals and small businesses.

Naturally, you need to consider your own business needs before you make a decision about which way to go with a shopping cart. On Thursday, we're interviewing Christina Hills, The Shopping Cart Queen about how to use a shopping cart to automate your business. Disclosure: Christina is also a big fan of 1ShoppingCart and trains people on how to use it.

Free Press Release Builder

Eg_terri_face_oval_2_9It's a privilege to be able to share with you a little solo entrepreneur internet marketing wisdom while Denise is off teaching and vacationing! I'll dive right in with a great new resource I just found out about.

A few years ago, Solo-E.com mounted a 6-month press release campaign. Although we spent a lot of time writing what we thought were solid, non-promotional press releases, they just never achieved the results that made it worth the effort, and so we dropped it as a strategy.

But I know that properly written and promoted press releases can definitely  work -- and maybe if we'd had access to this hot new press release writing tool, we'd have done a better job and gotten the press attention we wanted!

This astounding press releasing-writing resource from EvanCarmichael.com is the most comprehensive I've seen -- and it's easy to read and understand, too. Best yet -- it's free! It features a five step process, with dozens of topic ideas to get you started and a template where you fill in the blanks and it builds your press release for you. Plus direct links to lists of media outlets and scores of additional resources. A definite recommended resource:
