MySpace Business Training Program

On Saturday I posted about a free MySpace Business Training program our mentor Tom Antion is giving away.  If you've been following this blog you know I've been experimenting with MySpace as a business tool.  But, I didn't post about the training on this blog; I posted it on Build a Better Blog, so you might not have seen it!

I don't want to leave you out so here's a link to the info and how to get your free copy of the training.

Using MySpace as a Business Building Tool

The transcript from our conversation with Nancy Marmolejo, author of Make MySpace Your Space, is now posted on Blogging and Beyond.

MySpace Hits China

From an email update in the Los Angeles Business Journal:

MySpace Debuts in China

The Chinese site will be owned by a Chinese company and supported by MySpace in Beverly Hills.  There are 137 million Internet users in China.

Networking on MySpace

Did you catch the show about MySpace with Nancy Marmolejo yesterday? If not you can listen to it over on Blogging and Beyond.

Nancy shared some great tips about how she effectively networks on MySpace to get new clients.  Defnintely worth listening to.

Our mentor, Tom Antion, has also recently jumped on the MySpace bandwagon and is doing his usual intensive study to figure out the best way to make money in a professional, non-sleezy way.  For Tom it's about the numbers of people you can reach with your message. For Nancy, it's about building relationships with a hand-picked group of like-minded people.  Both ways work and I'm following these two closely so I can learn from the pros.

One tool Tom recommends is FriendBlasterPro which will automate a lot of tasks, like posting bulletins, finding friends, adding friends and commenting. This can come in handy if you're playing a numbers game and when you want to blast something out to your group. I've started using FriendBlasterPro on a limited basis to test it and will let you know how it goes.

MySpace: A Quick Way to Add Friends

Another quick tip for making it easy for people to add you as a MySpace friend. This one is courtesy of Dave Taylor who has a post on his blog about creating a button for adding friends. Dave gives you the code to create a button to put on your blog or web site to invite people to add you as their friend.

As much as I would like to show you how the button looks in this post, every time I paste the code (in the HTML field) I get a button that says "submit query" which is NOT what it's supposed to say.  Maybe it doesn't work to have form code in a TypePad post.  I'll have to check that out and get back to you.

I was able to add the button to my sidebar, but I deleted it because it was too wide for the column and I couldn't figure out a way to make the button less wide.

Anyone have some tips here? I'm open to suggestions. In the meantime, check out Dave Taylor's post on adding a button. And you can always add me as your MySpace friend using a good old fashioned link!
