Repurpose Your Content to Leverage Your Time

One of the things you will hear us talk about a lot -- and not just us, but many people doing business online -- is that you need to repurpose your content in order to leverage your time and make more money.

What does that look like?

  • You write an article.
  • You post it on your blog.
  • You record the article and create a podcast.
  • You send the article out to your ezine subscribers.
  • You submit the article to article directories and send traffic back to your book site/blog.
  • You create a press release using the content of the article. It gets distributed all over the 'net.
  • You break the article down into 5 tips and create a free mini-course.
  • You expand on the article and create an ebook.
  • You create a video using the content of the article.
  • You post a link to your article on your Facebook profile for all your friends to see.
  • You Twitter about your article.
  • You create a teleclass about the content of your article.
  • You transcribe the audio from the teleclass and package the audio and the transcript into a product you sell.

Get the idea? Any more ways you can think of to repurpose your content?

Postage in US goes up on May 12

If you live in the United States, listen up.  The price of postage goes up on Monday, May 12. I was reminded of this by a "tweet" from one of my Twitter friends today.

You can buy forever stamps at the current rate and lock in the price. But do it before Monday when the price goes up.

As a savvy business person, no doubt you want to save money where you can. Get thee to a post office today!

The Blog Squad uses branded photo stamps from Stamps.com and the software will automatically update and use the correct amount. I love being able to avoid the post office and print all my postage from my office.

Radically Transparent Arrives in My Mailbox

Radicallytransparenttilt I love coincidences.  A couple of weeks ago I listened to an interview with Andy Beal of Marketing Pilgrim, and author of the recently published Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online (interviewed by John Jantsch). I ordered the brand new book and received it yesterday. I can't wait to get started reading it.

Today in my Feedblitz updates, there was a post by Paul Chaney about an online reputation management tool called Trakur, developed by Andy Beal.

Trakur takes Google Alerts to another level. Why use Trakur when Google Alerts is free?

Google Alerts only monitors content available through one of Google's search engines. Trackur monitors many more web channels than just Google. In addition, Trackur allows you to save items, sort them, share them via email, and subscribe to an RSS feed--Google Alerts offers none of these features.

I've set up a 14 day free trial on the keyword phrase "Blog Squad" so I can test how the tool works.  What came up in the initial search were blog posts, web pages, videos, photos on Flickr and much more.  Very complete.

Recession-proof your business and life

My friend and colleague, Master Developmental Coach, Mike R. Jay, just released his latest print book today, UPPING the Downside: 64 Strategies to Create Professional Resilience by
Design.

I’m helping Mike get the word out as I believe resilience is a much needed antidote to all the conversation about a recession just now.

I could go on and on about why you should buy this book, but the bottom line is this:

The book is discounted to $9.97 today only, Friday, March 14. And, when you buy the book today, you’ll also receive a huge collection of Resilience Bonuses generously provided by leaders around the world. This is Mike’s way of saying thank you for buying his book today.

For the complete list of all 50+ Bonuses you get with your purchase, click this link.

Here's to your resilience!

P.S.  Remember, you’ll need to get Mike’s book today only to be eligible for this special package.

How resilient are you?

Most people think resiliency is about the ability to bounce back, or about having a hardy  personality.

While these are partially true, the most resilient person is one who is READY FOR ANYTHING!

The more resilient you are, the more prepared you are for whatever events and circumstances life brings you.

I'm sure you'll agree, with the stresses of today's shaky economy we all need to be much more resilient!

My colleague, Mike Jay, has a brand new book coming out on March 14, 2008 called:

Uppingdownside UPPING the Downside: 64 Strategies to Create Professional Resilience by Design

Mike’s book is a be-ready-for-anything guide, that should accompany all professionals into the future.

You can get a sneak peek at the concepts in the book by reading the excellent report Mike wrote specifically to dispel the confusion around resilience, called "5 Resilience Myths."

Go get your free resilience report.

Plus, you’ll also receive a gift of basic lifetime membership to Mike’s Upping the Downside Club with access to additional resources, recordings, and live calls… all this for $0.

Let me know what you think of the 5 Myths report.

Dr. Joe Capista: Blog Tour for What Can a Dentist Teach You About Business, Life and Success?

Capista_good We've been hearing for months about Dr. Joe Capista, a dentist from Philadelphia who is a client of our good friend Kathleen Gage. What we've been hearing is about his amazing success and about the book he's just published about how he built a multi-million dollar business: What Can a Dentist Teach You about Business, Life and Success? Discover Secrets to Achieving Total Success!

When Kathleen mentioned she was working with Dr. Capista on the promotion of his book and that they were having a blog tour to spread the word, well, we had to be involved. After all, we're huge proponents of blogs to marketing your business. Kathleen generously shared a copy of Dr. Capista's book and since my interest is in business and marketing, here's a brief review of how Dr. Capista addresses marketing in his book.  But first, watch this video book trailer...

Online Reputation Management

You know how when something is top of mind, you see it all over the place? Today for our Blogging and Beyond Mentor Program we're interviewing Steven Van Yoder, author of Get Slightly Famous.  We're going to be talking about how you need to build and manage your personal brand, or your online reputation.

And today I came across a post by Lee Odden about Online Reputation Management for Individuals. This is an excellent review of why it's so important to manage how you appear online, on your blog, your LinkedIn profile, on Facebook, on YouTube, etc.

When you Google your name (use quotation marks around your first and last name so you get appropriate results), what do you find?

If you're in business, you better hope it's all good!

It's not too late to join the Blogging and Beyond Mentor program and attend this VIP interview with Steven Van Yoder. Get the details here. Can't make it today? Mentee classes are always recorded and transcribed so you can study at your convenience.

Public Speaking Can Boost Your Business

As business owners, Patsi and I have learned over the past few years that one of the keys to our success has been taking the plunge and speaking at conferences and to niche groups. Speaking has boosted our credibility and extended our ability to reach more people. In a nutshell, speaking has helped us build a successful business.

Last week we were invited to speak at a 3-day seminar coming up in August, about how to using public speaking to build your business. It's not a seminar for public speakers though if you are one you would probably learn a lot; it's actually focused on business owners, entrepreneurs and service professionals who want to, and know they need to, add speaking to their marketing toolkit.

Our friends Arvee Robinson and Lee Pound have come up with an incredible kickoff offer for their Speak Your Way to Wealth seminar in August.

Personal Branding Online

David Meerman Scott has a post today announcing the new masthead (banner) on his blog Web Ink Now. He talks about the importance of personal branding on the web and why you need to pay attention to your visual image and be consistent. After nearly 4 years, we're finally going to get a banner designed for Patsi's blog at Writing on The Web. We'll let you know when that's up.

This is right in alignment with our upcoming interview with Steven Van Yoder on February 13:

We're interviewing Steven Van Yoder, author of Get Slightly Famous, for our Blogging and Beyond Mentor Program. This program about how to create and manage your online reputation is for members only and anyone can join and attend this important class with our $9.95 30-day trial.

We've written on the subject extensively in the past, most notably when we presented a four week class on Blogging and Branding.  Here are a few posts you may want to review on personal branding and blogging to extend your personal brand:
